جرائد اليوم مغمورة مع نعيات وجزاء إلى أيقون محافظة وليام [ف.]. [بوكلي], الذي مات بالأمس في 82 بينما يعمل على عموده يوميّة [أت هوم].
لا أحد, [رغردلسّ وف] [لنينغ] سياسيّة, استطاع في أيّ وقت اتّهمت [بوكلي] من يسيء ال [إنغليش لنغج]. [إين فكت], عزّز هو عادة هو.
اقتبست [بوكلي] كان في [ا] وولستريت جريدة [ربريستينتد] افتتاحيّة اليوم بما أنّ مؤخّرا يتلقّى يدعى ل "[ا] رؤية" للحركة محافظة.
بصراحة, سمع أنا تلقّى أبدا أو قرأ أنّ كلمة قبل, غير أنّ جذره الاسم أصليّة, لذلك أصدر [بوكلي] كان دعوة أن يحيي الرؤية أصليّة من الحركة محافظة.
تركتني أضفت جزيتي [إينكنسقونتيل] تقريبا إلى الرجل الذي أبدىنا كلّ أنّ هناك حياة بعد [فدر] واشتراكيّة ليبراليّ.
بدأ إبريق [روجر] [كلمنس] يشهد قبل إجتماع اليوم, ورغم أنّ هو كان غير واع من هو في إنكاره جارية حقيقة, فرصه من يجعل [هلّ وف فم] ذهبوا فوق في دخان مع أوضاعه.
في العملية, أدار هو أيضا أن يرمي كلّ شريكة وأحبّ واحدة من خاصّتي تحت الحافلة, بما في ذلك ه زوجة, وكيلة وعاملة. هو ذكّرني من نقيب [قويغ]. بسرعة, أحد ما ممر [روجر] بعض بعض معدنة كرات.

I have a Beagle-mongrel dog, and he’s adorable, so it was with great pride and pleasure that I read that Uno the Beagle took first place in the Hound category at the famous Westchester Dog Show opening last night.
More, he’s actually favored the win the overall competition. Las Vegas, can we bet on this?
Uno is a really beautiful dog, but what he has to do with English writing and English grammar, I’m not sure.
Except I like to write about dogs….
I belong to this e-mail service called "A Phrase a Week," and this week’s phrase is "the devil to pay."
Now, what I didn’t know is that the seams between planks on a wooden ship are called "the devil." Therefore, "the devil to pay" could be interpreted to mean filling in these seams, or devils, with resin, etc.
However, the "Phrase a Week" service debunks this by pointing out the Faustian bargain of selling one’s soul to get ahead in life and quotes Thomas Brown’s 1707 Letters from the Dead to the Living:
"Don’t you know damnation pays every man’s scores… we knew we should have the Devil to pay one time or other, and now you see like honest men we have pawn’d our Souls for the whole Reckoning."
The e-mail notes that this usage predates the "seams" variation, which makes good sense to me, as I’m constantly paying the devil to try to stay afloat in this world of forebearance.
Columnist [tag]Mark Steyn[/tag] reports that his favorite headline of the year comes from London, to wit:
"Government Renames Islamic Terrorism As ‘Anti-Islamic Activity’ To Woo Muslims."
The point, Steyn explains, is not to confuse terrorism with the Islamic religion.
