Horror Stories II: Starting a Sentence With ‘Because’

Can anyone even find where the ersatz rule, “Never start a sentence with because,” came from?  It’s not in print anywhere.  This is just one more example of horror stories of teaching English grammar by those who never studied it but who quote their third-grade teacher as if it were revealed truth.  Here’s a great resource on “Myths and Superstitions of Writing.”
